Help us save lives, prevent deafness and  blindness through out rural areas by organizing 2 Medical camps a year from 2020 to 2022

A vast amount of Rural Nepal, which represents 81% of the country’s population, has no medical cover. General Practitioners (GPs) like we enjoy in the developed world are non-existent and for many people the only medical help they can access is traditional healers. The doctor patient ratio in Nepal is only 7.39% of the World Health Organisations’s recommended minimum.

Communicable diseases such as cholera and typhoid are significant but account for less than 50% of all deaths and the main causes of death are from non-communicable illnesses mainly respiratory diseases and high blood pressure and arterial damage.

Another major problem we wish to deal with is blindness being caused by cataracts (which account for 74% of all blindness in the country) and also the prevention of deafness.

The Trust is proposing taking a medical team of ten suitably qualified people into at least four different rural communities each year to treat people for the main causes of premature death. At the same time education will be provided on prevention of diseases such as cholera and typhoid.

Dental treatment will also be provided to the communities.

Separately, eye treatment will be provided to treat glaucoma and cataracts

The Trust is aiming to treat a minimum of 2,000 people each year for life threatening illness and provide dental treatment for at least another 3,000 people. 1,000 people will also be saved from blindness by being given cataract operations.

The number of people we can treat will depend upon your donations

£5 will provide basic eye tests for 2 people

£10 will provide treatment for 3 dental patients

£15 will provide treatment of 1 person for respiratory illness or high blood pressure

£24 will enable 1 person to be saved from blindness or possibly have their sight restored by a cataract operation

We need £15,000 for the cataract initially and approximately £9,820 for the Medical camps per year.

The full sponsorship of the The Medical Campaigns – all rural Nepal (2020) (without cataract operations) will come approximately to under £50,000.

This Cause is our effort to join Goal N3 – Good Health and Well-being from the United Nations  Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)
